Creating Desktop Program Icon

ould like to post a new icon on my desktop that links to a program. I already know how to do this basically. HOwever, normally whenever I use the program, I must 'cd filename' first, then 'wish programname'. HOw can I have the system do this under a desktop link?
TIA

Write a shell script containing the two commands you mention - something like

#!/bin/sh
cd filename
wish programname

do chmod +x shellscriptfilename to make the script executuable, then just link the icon to the shell script. hope that helps

Where do I put the 'chmod +x shellscriptfilename'?

It's a shell command, type it into an xterm after you've created the shell script file.
