create username and passwd on dedicated server


i know this sounds strange, but can i create user name and password from the prompt on the server without a crash. learning about a dedicated sever is new to me.

sure no problem

try "useradd" or "adduser"

you can set the password with "passwd"

maybe you should use "passwd username" to set the password for the account of "username" ...

you may also want to add the new user to some groups


this is done with "gpasswd"

you can also add new groups with "groupadd"
