create custom log

Hi everybody
I have redhat linux 8 on my machine.I want to create a cusom log file of users logging into a particular application on my linux machine.also a router is connected to this linux machine and i want a log of all users logging into my router.can u tell me how do i configure this on my linux machine and where would the log file be available

Could you please be specific about what application+version and how it, and your system, is configured with respect to authentication?

Could you please be specific about what brand, type and if it allows remote logging?

it is a cisco router and remote logging is enabled.

application is legato but i want to know about it in general.

as i want to know how to create custom logs in general
