i'd like to have a program/plugin that can search craigslist for keywords, and then 1) keep a list of matching ads, and 2) update/notify you when a new item matching the search criteria is listed. from my reading it appears that cl doesn't like bots/external sites, but i don't know if some kind of rss feed or standalone app would be the same thing.
download the opml file rather than trying to search, then use your favorite RSS reader to get updates. I use google's RSS reader. http://www.google.com/reader/view/ Works like a charm.
Previously, I had written a script that went through all of the craigs lists & performed a search, then collated the results, but this is much more clean.
of course, the easiest thing of all is just to tag the rss feed directly from craigslist. do a search and it appears at the bottom of the page. when did that get there?
