cp and changing rights

is there any way to kinda 'give' someone a file... hehe.. that makes no sense..

i've been working as root on some programming, and i want to move the files into my own user area, but that means i need to change the attribs of it aswell... i want to copy the file to /home/chris and have it automatically change it's rights to that of the directory it's in or something similar... is that too much to ask? i presume it is... ahh well...

couldn't you just chown recursively all the files and dir's and then move it... ??

well that's what i've done, it just get's all confusing when you move somethign and then forget to edit the rights etc...

anyway, forget it, back to my gtk sine waves
