Post copying a large file


i get an error message(file to large) when i tried to copy a file of 70gb.what could be the problem.

- this is not a success story, you should post in the correct forums next time
- you've said *nothing* about how you are copying this or anything, not even that this is under any variant of Linux.

I guess that it means the file was too large!! To go further, we would need to know the details of your system, the kind of file you were copying and from where and to where.

Also, this does not belong in "Success Stories" (Well, at least not yet....)

I will get someone to move it.

Based on your duplicate post, the file system on the external drive may well be fat32, which only allows for 4G files. You may need to reformat or break your file into pieces.
