Copy text from command line
How can I copy text from xterm or other that kind of terminal?
|
Yes, of course you can. And guess what, it is so simple that most people miss it.
Just select the text with your mouse, and then center click on any other application, to copy it. This works with all applications, and across all terminals. This works even in virtual terms. |
and for those who don't have a 3 buttoned mouse (like yours truly), just click both buttons.
|
Just make sure, if you do that, that 'emulate 3 buttons' is uncommented in your XF86Config - I had to use a 2-button mouse a lot myself before I got my cool new one. :)
|
It's works by pressing both mousebuttons at the same time but I have three buttons!!! :) How do I enable the third button?
|
Like Digiot said, look for the "Emulate3Buttons" line in your XF86Config (usually in /etc/X11). In your case, comment it out, or explicitly set it's value to "no". Log out and back in to start a new X session with the new option setting.

Or maybe add - I post this a lot - do a search! *g* - maybe add
Option "Z Axis Mapping" "4 5" - and your type is probably IMPS/2, as well. And, yeah, no emulation then. :) |
You can select the text with your mouse left key and paste it with your mouse right key.
