Copy *.wavs from audio CD??? can't mount??
 
I have a few CDs made for the standard CD player. Thus they are .wav files. I just want to copy these files to my hd. I can't mount ('mount /dev/cdrom') cause I get a no filesys error, which is understandable. But how can I do this?

I am using slackware 10.1 running gnome. Also, how hard would it be to convert these to mp3 or ogg format?

Audio CDs don't have a filesystem. You can't mount them. You'll need to rip them with something like Grip to convert them to the desired format

They're not .wav files, windows just fools you into thinking they are. You can use grip to rip them tracks to wav format and then use oggenc or lame to encode to ogg or mp3 respectively.
