Convert midi to mp3, without sound card ?


Hello, I am trying to convert a midi to mp3, without sound card ? but with the timidity program, it requires a sound card

Any welcome ideas ?

I haven't done it myself, but it shouldn't need a soundcard for anything. The whole point of timidity is to emulate a midi synthesizer when you lack midi hardware. How are you trying to do the conversion?

I only know timidity, but well, nothign worked.

I just found this

Looking at the -O suboptions in the timidity man page I can't see mp3 listed, but it can also output to flac, vorbis and speex. It none of those can serve you, you can still convert it to plain wave and then compress it with lame or something to generate the mp3 you are looking for.

Wild guess, maybe you have no patchset installed for timidity?
