Connect two virtual linux machines via virtual USB or serial

Hello,

Does anyone have recommendation for which virtualization software work best with SUSE linux, especially for connecting two virtual Linux machines together via virtual USB and/or serial ports?

A great many thanks.

Hi, just a quick question, why would you want to connect via serial or USB?

I've had a serial connection between 2 VM's running in VMware for testing robotic control software but as far as I know, none of the mainstream VM platforms will connect via virtual USB. If it is just for normal comms then either bridged or NAT networking should work fine in products like Virtualbox or VMware. I've not had chance to try Parallels yet.

Hi,

I needed to connect two virtual Linux together via serial port to simulate remote debugging via kdb and kgdb. Thanks.

I think this should be possible in VMware but if you give me a bit of time I'll check it and see if I can get it to work first.

It may only be possible in VMware Workstation rather than the free Server version as well, which means paying for it. Unless someone can tell me that I'm wrong I'm pretty sure this is not possible in Virtualbox. I will also check out Parallels but this may take me a while.
