I want to open ".conkyrc" in a text editor, suppose gedit. How can I open it in gedit?

open a terminal and type gedit ~/.conkyrc

conky customization
I got this from a thread. But it has several problems. It has no background color, processor temperature and I do not know what is SLACK.I also want to show the RAM usage graphically.
The main problem is, it only appears at one window. How to configure it? I've attached the screen shot of my conky and the code. |
Have you looked through the documentation on the conky site? It actually is very good and will probably give you some ideas. You'll want to look for things like background color settings or transparency if you want the wallpaper to show through. It also details how to get temperature and RAM usage.

HangDog42's advice is good, most of this stuff is extensively covered on the main site, are items being set correctly and not taking?

screen shot of CONKY
Dear Members:
I've made the wrong screen shot posted. I apologise for that. Please have a look at the attached screen shot. |
Useful Tip:
To open a hidden (dot) file from a GTK/GNOME application, right click on the list of files and check the "Show Hidden Files" checkbox. I also have enabled a text entry where I can just type part of a filename (even one beginning with a dot) and open it, without even touching the list of files. I forgot how I did that, though. |
I'd bet that the SLACK entry is a disk partition, and since you got this .conkyrc from someone else, your machine doesn't have one. Again, take a look at the conky pages and try fiddling with some of the options.

re-conky problem
sorry dudes but I still face the problems.
My conky disappears often. And I've not found any solution to this problem. If you have any solution to this problelm please post it. And for the temperature of CPU all the codes give the same result. It prints vague temperature. |

If you would post specifics about what you've tried and what happened it would help immensely. |
