Learn IPTables. You'll have to, anyway, if you want to start a career in security.

To configure your computer to be a router, and in the assumtion that you don't have a switch/hub, you'll need to have a WAN ethernet port, and an ethernet port for each client. So, in your case, with 3 computers, 1 acting as the router/firewall, you'll need 3 ethernet ports on the router/firewall machine.
