Confused: KDE menu in a Gnome only install

Okay, this has me scratching my head. I have Red Hat 9.0 installed, and I decided to put in Gnome as my only DE: I do not have KDE installed.

Everything is honkey dorey (well, not really, but it's nothing bad), except for the fact that on my Gnome Application menu (you know, the menu you get when you add the bar to the top of the screen) there is an entry named "KDE Menu". There are two sub-menus within: "System" -> "Screensavers". These menus were not there before, and do not appear in the "Red Hat" main menu.

I have a feeling that the Really Slick Screensavers RPM I downloaded from Guru Labs had something do with this because the "Screensavers" sub-sub-menu had all of the Really Slick Screensavers listed in it. However, I have since uninstalled the RPM from Guru Labs, but the "KDE Menu" remains. I don't know how to delete the bogus menu entry.

Has anyone else noticed this weird behaviour? Did the Really Slick Screensavers mess up my menu, or is something else at play here? I'm really confused. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

KDE menu in Gnome

Both Gnome and KDE keep their menus in the same place (I am not sure where). I discovered this by accident and now use the same application menu for both Gnome and KDE. It looks like some package installed a KDE menu in the common menu location. Enjoy.

Now if I could only figure out where those config files are. I bet there XML files, in which case I'll be lost.

Man, that KDE Menu is annoying.

getting rid of annoying menu

I never chased down where these menus lurk. If you figure it out let me know. I maintain my application menu from KDE, which fact doesn't help you.

Back in the days of Gnome 1.4 (which I like better than 2) the directory was kept under /usr/share/gnome (for Red Hat distro, anyway), and the favorites were kept under ~/.gnome/apps/

As of Gnome 2 I do not know where they are, but Xine and my Radeon's driver made an entry in the same menu (apps in the new panel).
