Configure error in Pango-1.0.5

Hi,
When i try to configure "pango-1.0.5" package in my system (Red Hat Linux 7.2, Kernel 2.4.7-10) configure error occurs as follows.

checking for GLIB - version >= 2.0.0... no
*** Could not run GLIB test program, checking why...
*** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log for the *** exact error that occured. This usually means GLIB is incorrectly installed.
configure: error:
*** Glib 2.0.0 or better is required. The latest version of
*** Glib is always available from ftp://ftp.gtk.org/.

When i try to print the available glib version using
"rpm -qa | grep glib" in shell prompt the output is as follows.

glibc-2.2.4-13
compat-glibc-6.2-2.1.3.2
glib-devel-1.2.10-5
glibc-profile-2.2.4-13
glibc-common-2.2.4-13
glib-1.2.10-5
glib10-1.0.6-10
glibc-devel-2.2.4-13

What in the above list i should uninstall? I can download required version from ftp://ftp.gtk.org.
