Confession thread :p

*coughs*

Hi. I'm Bleys, and I'm a dual-booter. I've been a dual-booter for nearly ten months, since I was introduced to Linux last march.

After all this time, I still boot into Windows by default. I'm hopelessly addicted to such applications as RPG Maker 2000, Visual Studio, PowerDVD, and aye, even Windows Media Player. Although I don't LIKE Windows Media Player, it lets me watch DivX AVIs, which I cannot do in Linux, even with the avifile library.

I have StarOffice and I still use Micros~1 Word. I have Konqueror, and I still use IE. I have bash and I still use...well, bash. Bash has been ported to DOS.

(Sorry; had to post this; I just read the "Switch Hitters" chapter of The Joy of Linux, in which dual-booters are compared to androgynous people, and I can't stop laughing)

Hi, i'm /me and I also dual-boot! It's ok though, because most of us do. I don't mind being called androgynous, that's just a lash out from those who are die-hard Linux fans who think everything should be done their way or nothing at all.

Non-conformists become comformists in their pursuits to go against the grain, being so blind to see that they've paved a path across that same grain for others to follow.

Hi im theneoprotocol (Mykey), I too dual boot but do not like to be called names like "androgynous". I originally kept my Linux box (Red Hat 6.x) on my Frankienstien box while I complteted the usual app communications on my win side purchased PC. The times have changed and my demands on myself increased. Windose could not supply my needs. Also, I was tired of searching for cracks and pilfard software just to see if i liked those apps. I am not a thief. I am honest (a halo above) and profesional. By default I boot into my new Atholon 1.6XP system using Mandrake 8.2 (I liked what they done with my PC( but it too is a bloated system)) and a choice of winME. I only go to winME for certain apps. but not to many. Linux has gone a long way since my use of RH which is currently running on my laptop. Anyway, where are we going with this or is it confessions........

Running ME is a good way to wean yourself off of Windows. *hates ME*

dj_relentless 01-29-2002 03:20 PM

and trying to trouble shoot windows problems instead of reinstalling all the time is another way to ween yourself off it :)

is it spelt ween or wean?
