Our school is trying to replace our current temporary Windows 95 Intranet Chat server (
http://vnalex.tripod.com/en/) with a more permanent and stable one (Slackware 9.0). I installed the software without much trouble, and copied the source files from the website. I ran the install per their instructions, in which a binary and start script was created. When I go to the directory where the binary is located, i type the binary file name and, it seems as though it runs, but it actually doesn't. I can't connect to the server and the application does not show up in ps -A. The instructions are as follows..
INSTALLATION
two steps:
$ make RELEASE=1 DEF_CONFFILE=/etc/ichatsrv.conf
$ make install DEF_CONFFILE=/etc/ichatsrv.conf
This will make server executable and copy it into /usr/local/sbin directory and
ichatsrv.conf to /etc directory (or, to file specified with DEF_CONFFILE).
Start script will be copied to /etc/rc.d/init.d directory.
Any help? Thanks in advance...
