Compiling for AMD64 processor
 
hi all,
i am having AMD64 processor system, i installed FC2 of i386 architecture provided with kernel source of 2.6.5 release. i want to recompile the kernel for AMD architecture.

i performed the following steps in doing the process.
1. make clean
2. make menuconfig, here i have choosen the option of
3. make
In this step it started building for i386 architecture, even though i have selected

please suggest me what to be done to compile the kernel for AMD64 processor.

Processor type and family--->
Processor family---------->
Opteron/Athlon64/Hammer/K8 option.

3. make
In this step it started building for i386 architecture, even though i have selected the above option.

please suggest me what to be done to compile the kernel for AMD64 processor.
