Command-line output to GUI text editor

Hi,

Other than redirecting output to file then opening that file, is there a way to send output of a given command directly to a text editor (preferably NEdit)?

Thank you.

I don't know nedit, but in (g)vim and emacs you can invoke an
OS command and capture the output. That aside you can maybe
use xclip to push the output into the X clipboard and paste it
into the editor - not sure whether there's a size limitation on
what you can push into the clip-board, though.

Cheers,
Tink

You can do it in gedit, too. I'm using version 2.22.0 and it is even included in the Tools menu, and described in help file. But direct piping from command line as described in help does not work for me - have no idea why?

cheers
