  • Given that many people, thoroughly erroneously, seem to associate free software with piracy, is this also unfortunate? Or is it, maybe, a welcome opportunity to explain exactly what the free software movement is really about?

I would be willing to bet quite a lot that the average person has never heard of Free Software day or Talk Like a Pirate day, and most certainly will never know they fell on the same day. So I would say this isn't going to do much for public perception.
