CNTRL+ALT+BCKSP Doesn't Work
 

Hello.

I'm running a new installation of Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper). CNTRL + ALT + BCKSP is supposed to take me out to the login screen. However, it does nothing at all.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

This nay not be set in the shortcuts config. I assume you are using Gnome, so it should be in System > Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts.

I haven't got Gnome on Ubuntu, mine is on Fedora, and I can't find a setting for that particular function. However it does work, but what it actually does is kill the X-server. I also have a setting for "Run a terminal = CTRL+ALT+T"

I got into the configurations. Log out was disabled. It's acting strangely though. I tried to tell it to use the CNTRL + ALT keys on the right side but it refused to make them work.

In the process, I tried the CNTRL + ALT keys on the left side. That does get me out! I just hadn't tried that because my previous Ubuntu install came with the right keys working.

However, it takes me first to a console and then to the log in screen. Kind of a roundabout pain in the neck, but it works.

I had CNTRL+t set up to open a terminal on my previous installation. Just set it up here. Thanks for reminding me.

Could this be a key mapping error in the locale set-up? I had something like this before, when the correct locale was set, but the keyboard layout was non-standard. It was a while ago, and I was using Slackware. I remember making a custom key-board map, but I can't find any details.
