That's an interesting article. I've said similar things in the past but he has a lot more to back up his claims then I ever did. Needless to say I agree. Touting Linux as free doesnt really persuade people to switch if that's what your after. Think about what comes to your head when you say something is free anyway. If someone is offering me a free anything the first things I think are, "whats the catch?" and "wow it must really suck if their giving it away." I have no doubt most people have similar thoughts. Touting a Luxe Linux as he proposes though sounds like a much better plan. I don't think Linux will overtake Windows anytime soon, but it has the potential to become a strong niche player like OSX is.
