Class 10 sd card vs laptop harddisk

Hi,
I cant seem to find any reasonable comparision, but will a Class10 sd card be faster then laptop's harddisk?
If there is some difference, I might just get one and install linux on it! [card reader is built into lappy]

The Limitations

One of the first clear limitations we encountered during our testing on multiple notebooks is that some laptops use slow built-in card readers. If your laptop isn't equipped with a high-speed built-in card reader then any SDHC card you use will run too slowly to be of any practical use as a second drive.

I run on my netbooks a external class 4 sd card with AntiX and Puppy but as frugal installs which means they run in ram which makes for faster run speeds. One way to find out I guess is to just bite the bullet and buy a class 10 sd card and just see for your self. You can always use the sd card for storage in case you are unhappy with run speeds.

It is real easy to install Linux on sd card in my personal experience. Whether a frugal or full install.

I'd guess that would be the CF disk as the general winner. The issue is more of why? Get a real SSD instead for about the same cost.

Generally a laptop hard drive is not designed to be fast. It tends to be one of the slowest drives there is.
