checking memory usage from command line
Is there a command to check how much physical memory you're using, without a GUI?
I need to compare how much memory the X "failsafe terminal" uses, compared to X with KDE.
You would use the command "free".
To see your memory useage in MBs:
there a re a few switches. man free will tell you more
will tell you what processes are running as well
