Changing without rebooting
I have a new and improved version of my DSDT(which I want to implement into my kernel) the problem is that I dont want to recompile my kernel nor reboot my system for the new DSDT to be implemented. Is this possible or will I have to recompile my kernel and then boot of the new image.
ps. I am no scared to recompile my kernel(dont it a million times) it is just that I dont want to reboot(and a few others) btw kexec is not a option OS: Slackware 10.2 Kernel: 2.6.16 Any help would be nice :) |
Though I'm not sure what a DSDT is, I'm reasonably certain you could compile it as a kernel module and load it that way with no reboot necessary.

Don't like your chances - I'd be betting on a compile/reboot.
Maybe you could get by with just a mkinitrd, but you're still up for a reboot |
Looks like I will be doing a reboot.
