Changing login manager (kubuntu)

I see some lovely login manager themes on kde-look and having downloaded a few would like to change the default kdm login manager. However, as great a site as kde-look.org is, it doesn’t give any info on how to use all the content.

Is there a guide somewhere on changing the default kubuntu login theme? Im assuming kubuntu uses kdm as the login manager but any changes I make to the layout in kcontrol has no effect so im not really sure.

Any info appreciated.

You don't really need a Kubuntu specific guide since all distros running KDE have the same features. Install an application called kdmtheme. Once thats done, run kcontrol -> system admininstration -> kdm theme manager -> install theme and then select one of the tarballs you downloaded from kde-look. After the theme is installed, you can then pick it from the list of available themes.
