Changing KDE around

Ok im getting used to KDE and linux and was wondering..

How do you get kde to look like the bottom thing is from the mac.. with that transparent bar with all the icons you want.. then when you mouse over it gets bigger..

and how do you seperate stuff like the windows and programs that are open from the clock.. the screen things.. and those other important things near the clock.. anyways i want my kde to look like this in a way.... is it all an environment or some special modification cause ive seen something like this everywhere..

for the transparent box with icons, you need karamba and get some theme like mac from the kde-look.besides, remove the kde kicker. then choosing the mac look for kde and it'll shows the menu bar on the top of screen

If you are using Mozilla, just highlight the following text in your last actual post -> Can't find X includes <- and then right-click and choose Web search for Can't find X includes. It will give you a lot, and one leads you back to a post on LQ. Now, I have Mozilla configured to use Google to search, but if you have the default Netscrape or whatever you might not get the same results. You should also search http://www.google.com/linux for karamba & Can't find X includes and read the posts that finds.

Searching is an art in itself, but will usually answer your questions. I've never attempted to compile karamba, so I couldn't give you any advice. But just from reading your post it seems that you might not have put the right path to your X headers in the command.

Hope this helps you to find the answer. Also you might go to kde-look.org and see if you can find anything there. Sorry I can't be of more help, but if you do the above maybe you'll get the answers you need.

did you already looked at the karamba home-page?
here are all the required packages listed, whit a lot of other usefull information.

I installed karamba recently myself(compiling worked right away), and it is really great!

Talking

I love OS X Aqua style, and I use a combination of elements to create an environment which looks almost exactly like Panther.

A. Get SmoothAkua w/ OS X button placement from kde-look.org at http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=9228 and install it. You'll need to use IceWM as your window manager.

B. Download the Baghira style and install it. It adds many OS X like features, including stripes to the kicker (which you hide later) and an OS X scrollbar.

C. Get the Karamba Mac OS X Bar from kde-look at http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=5609 and, before installing it, get superkaramba from http://netdragon.sourceforge.net. Then, extract the OS X bar to a folder, open superkaramba, and run macosx.theme. From now on, it will always automatically start at startup.

D. The only thing left is the KDE kicker. You have two options for this. If you prefer to keep the kicker, then hide it by right-clicking on it, selecting "Configure Panel" and select the Hiding tab. Select the second option to hide the kicker and select immediately, then press okay. Voila! The kicker, (almost) only when you need it. Or, if you prefer, uninstall the kicker via your package manager.

Have fun!
