Changing hostname

Hello,

I am new to Linux ( ), but I wanted to ask for help from experienced users.

My question is this.

How do I change the hostname on Red Hat linux 7.2 without breaking everything? I have tried linuxconf, but when I reboot, Gnome doesn't start up.

:smash:

My local network works like this, I have two machines (both currently called localhost.localdomain) which can both access the internet over our cable modem which is shared through the use of a cable modem router and a hub.

Thanks,

kbaldor

Try the 'redhat-config-network' command. It use to be 'netcfg' or something, but I think it changed in 7.2?

You may also be interested in 'internet-druid' command in /usr/sbin as well.
