Change required depen version for a .deb without recompiling?

Howdy All,

I was wondering how/if it was possible to edit the min. version number of a depen for a .deb package. For example lets say my package says it needs libc6 2.7.1 or higher but I want it to be 2.5.1 or higher instead. Can I make this change with out having to recompile the .deb package?

Thanks,
~Jeff

A package and its executables, libraries depends on
e.g. lbc6 2.7.1 when the gcc compiler used for the
compiling was a gcc built with 'libc6 2.7.1'.

Depending on other libraries :
The executables, libraries were compiled, linked
against a certain library version.
Will then depend on that version or a later
compatible one.

The only solution for your question is recompiling.
