CFS scheduler

will the new CFS scheduler have any impact on normal desktop users? i dont know too much about schedulers, is CFS way better than the previous one or does it perform better in just _some_ situations (sort of like ext3 versus reiserfs etc)

just wondering if i should upgrade to 2.6.23 on my lappy

thanks

My understanding was that part of the requirement was to better handle the "interactive" workloads that the general desktop users have been moaning about for years. See all the arguments about swappiness and various theories about what kernel options to make your machine more "responsive".

Do it - and let us know what you think of it ....
