CentOS suitability for laptop

I've search the web and found various mentions of people using CentOS on laptops, I would like to check whether the general consensus is that CentOS is suitable for a laptop.

I will be using the laptop in a corporate environment, as a programmer. I do not need the latest multimedia apps, I'm more interested in stability.

Thanks in advance.

Chris.

Been using CentOS since I got my present laptop back in Novermber, no problems with stability. Before that I had CentOS since 4.0 came out installed on my old laptop.

CentOS is a clone of RedHat Enterprise Linux, so I would think that it would be one of the stronger candidates.

Do you have the laptop already? If so--try it! If not, have you searched on different brands and models? eg "Sony vaio with linux". Also the hardware compatibility list here may be useful.

Finally, there are numerous vendors selling laptops with Linux installed.
