CentOS Media Not Working

Hello. I am a newbie and I am currently using CentOS (the latest version i believe) with KDE. I can play music through the FireFox browser, but my videos/music I cannot play on my desktop. I tried using Noatum and XXMS, etc, but none of the programs work. My files are mp3 and mpeg. Any help would be nice. Thank you.

For XMMS to play mp3 you need to install the MP3 part. Many Redhat Clones and other distros leave out MP3 support do to legal issues. Lots of info here on that subject. The way I installed that support is going here http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el4/en/i386/dag/RPMS/ and installing the xmms and xmms-mp3 from there.

You can also use the dag's site as a repo for your apt or yum updater. Lots of info on setting up repos here.
