cdrecord will only burn speed 4 not above?..
hi, i have a preety new burner and it is capable of 40x but if i try anything above speed=4 it will just 'ignore' it or there was perhaps a problem and it just goes to write in 4x:
'Starting to write CD/DVD at speed 4 in real TAO mode for single session.' so if i tried speed=8 speed=40 speed=32 whatever it still does 4 and thats really slow takes like 30mins for a cd, when i was on windows id burn it at 40x and it would take 5mins so it indeed working fine (but i dont use windows at all anymore) , any ideas on why it inists on speed 4 and not anymore? thanks. btw burner is a: 0,0,0 0) 'MITSUMI ' 'CR-48XCTE ' '1.0C' Removable CD-ROM hmm even if it i put it lower speed=2 it will do speed 4 as wel.. |
Another place that cdrecord gets its speed information is from the CDR_SPEED variable. Type in:
echo $CDR_SPEED and see if it is set to 4. You want CDR_SPEED set to null. Then cdrecord will pick up the maximum speed from the drive. |
oh ok yeah its null on mine
|
Stupid question:do you use CD's that can do 40x?
|
Question(s) even more stupid: Are the media encoded with their max-speed? Is that checked by firmware or software?
|
yeah i believe so like im not using cheap cds or anything using Maxell CD-RW and Memorex CD-R and even if i do speed=2 it will still do speed 4..
|
hmm yes it seems to have been the cds , i bought new cds now Memorex 48x and it will burn what i tell it to, so the others cds must have been like only 4x not even below 4x which seems werid but yeah. :)
