CD Record loss of streaming
Hello everybody,
I just want to tell you how I solved my "loss of streaming" problem with my cd-recorder on parallel port. I think it is a very special case, but maybe it would be useful to others. I have an old Dell Pentium Pro200n which has a parallel port with 3 BIOS possibilities : AT, PS/2 and ECP. Thanks to the information found on http://www.torque.net/parport/archive/current I tried the three possibilities and then loaded after each boot : insmod paride insmod epat insmod pcd drive0=0x378,0 insmod pg drive0=0x378,0,0,,-1,0 (The last 0 on the last line is delay, and 0 is the recommended value) I tried the 3 possibilities : AT : result : loss of streaming PS/2 : result : loss of streaming ECP : result : loss of streaming I did many unsuccessful tries, until I finally found the solution : I *must* boot my PC with *first* the ECP option, and *then* immediately reboot it with the PS/2 or AT option. It's the *sole* method which works ! And that works fine : I did no longer experiment any other "loss of streaming" so far with this method. I don't know how that works : maybe a piece of firmware is loaded with ECP, which is not with PS/2 nor ATand which remains active and which is necessary... ? Very weird ! Maybe somebody could explain me ? Anyway, even if this is a very special case, I hope this experience could help others... Many thanks again to members of http://www.torque.net/parport/ who gave me the way to solve my problem. BTW, I don't know how to post a message on www.torque.net/parport. Is there anybody who can help me ? Guy:confused: |
Thanks for the tips. It's always good to find people posting their successes for others to (hopefully) stumble across.
Just one question, though? Why the big gaps between sentences? |
Before submitting my posting, I clicked three times to "preview" here below, and each time, a blank line more was added automatically. But that's true, I didn't think to delete them... maybe it was possible !

Hmm. What browser/OS are you using? I know this doesn't happen to me and from the looks of other posts I don't think it happens in general.
