any1 know a cd player that plays cds digitally? my cd burner is not hooked up to my snd card with the sound cable, but I want to use it to play CDs cuz it can read CD Text while my CD-ROM can't. >.<
yeah I do. just askin cuz in windows it works I got the cable but it would be better to be able to play digital cuz I think it's better quality... dunno for sure.
From what I understand of this, is that linux needs the cable from the device to the sound card (onboard device/whatever), whereas wind0w$ picks the sound off the ide cables.
Oh, and you will probably have to open the box to see if the sound device has 2 connections to handle the device output - a lot of them only have 1.
Also, I would use the cd burner as the main device as that would make the system a bit more flexible - you should still be able to use the cdrom, but not for music under linux only wind0w$
