cause of sluggishness?


Hi all,

I am running FC6 on a 2.4Ghz Pentium IV with 1 Gb of RAM.

After running for a while (> few days), it gets periodically really sluggish and I can't figure out why.

According to top, CPU use is ok. Swap is less than half of RAM (< 512 MB), no exceptional disk activity.

I usually run amule (or amuled) in the background, sometimes ktorrent as well, so there is a fair bit of network traffic.

What could be making my system sluggish that doesn't show up in top etc?

Do ps -e to see what processes are running. Once, I had a similar issue--it turned out that updatedb was running forever. I do not remember the solution.
