I'm having a problem with my linux machine. If I ping with the IP address, the windows machine ping the linux box, but if I use the name of the linux box, it can't find it, I already put an entry in my dns server for the linux box...
I don't know what's happening, can someone please help me???
- Is the Windows box using the DNS server you entered the Linux entry in as it's primary DNS?
- Try pinging the box with it's FQDN. eg. Instead of pinging "mylinuxbox" ping "mylinuxbox.mynetwork.com".
- Double check that you have entered the correct IP address for the hostname in the DNS entry .
