cant lock the sceen on R.H 7.3

I use R.H 7.3 with kde 'I want lo lock the screen but whan I fress the lock buttom on the menu 'nothing happens and the screen doesnt locked is self.

what can I do ?

Are you logged as root?

If so, the screen saver will not start. You have to be logged as a normal user for this to work.

The reason for this is that xscreensaver doesn´t allow to be started as root for security reasons.

I read sometime ago about a way to start the xscreensaver daemon as root, and therefore, being able to lock the screen and use the screensaver, but I don´t remember how to do it right now. You should do a search in xscreensaver to find that.

Yeah that occurs in RH 8.0 as well. But only in GNOME. KDE will allow you to chose "lock" screen and it works.
