cant find network in gentoo


Hey i just done a fresh install of gentoo and im trying to change my internet connections from DHCP to a static IP,(DHCP is not working). i looked under Application -> System Tools and cant find network anywhere tho i have network tools there and i am able to ping google etc.i also ran 'network -admin' in terminal and got bash command not found.any heads start is helpfull thanks

Maybe this will help to get DHCP going:

dhcpcd -H eth0

Of course, you need to make sure dhcpcd is installed in the first place.

Ter tell you the truth I have no idea if there are Gentoo GUI network administration tools. I have never had use for such a thing. If you truly want to give up DHCP (i.e. give up trying to fix it) and switch to a static IP, go check out the Handbook. Remember when you had to configure your net card and you configured it for dhcp (or left the config file empty in which case it defaults to dhcp)? Well.. go to that section of the handbook and follow the steps for people with static IPs.

Yea....i got it working
The problem was with my router, it was issuing an invalid DNS Server and so i just set it up manually and viola DHCP and Static IP both work now Thanks for the help
