can't dual boot Windows Kubuntu
Hi, all -- I have Windows XP on my C drive, and I have installed Kubuntu on a removable hard drive (unwilling to risk C). The installation went smoothly; no problem.
But now what? It says here that on rebooting, I can hit [space] or any other key, and that will give me a menu with the option of booting into Kubuntu. It doesn't. No matter what I do when I boot or reboot, I go into Windows. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Doug (be advised: a tenderfoot non-geek). |
You need to do some research on how to set up the NTLDR to offer you a menu of choices: XP and Kubuntu.

During the Linux install, what option did you select for installing the boot loader? Can you boot from the Kubuntu CD and enter ctrl-alt-F1 (or F2) to get to a command line? If so, we can get the boot loader installed that way. At the command prompt, type "fdisk -l" and post the result here. |
