Cannot make a bootable DVD copy of original Linux DVD.

I have an original Linux magazine DVD with a couple of Linux distros included. I used Nero in 'Make Data Disc' mode, to try and make a DVD copy of the original. The copy completed, but the DVD copy doesn't boot the computer into installer mode like the original. What's wrong?

there is usually a 'make bootable' option in nero
you may have to give it a boot disk to read from. www.bootdisks.com is a great place to download them...

also if you are using nero then just COPY dvd not make data disk. making a data disk is just that. it takes what ever DATA you have and moves to the media (cd/dvd) in just raw DATA format. it is like an external HDD as far as the OS is concerned when it reads the data from the CD/DVD drive.

if the disk from the mag. is bootable, then when you COPY the disk, it too will be bootable.
