Unhappy cannot connect to internet

My card appears in Fedora as: "Realtek semiconductor RTL-8139/8139C"
Verifying in windows XP gives: "Realtek RTL 8139/810x Family fast ethernet NIC"

When I plug the internet-cable in the computer, and start Fedora (4 kernel 2.6.11.XXX), it seems that the card anyway is detected (If I dont have the cable in, there is a messege about "check your cable" during upstart).
But then it fails to give me IP... And no internetconnection of course...

Does anyone know what to do?

what does
Code:
cat /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
report? mine looks like the following:

Code:
cat /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
DEVICE=eth0
ONBOOT=yes
#BOOTPROTO=dhcp
BOOTPROTO=static
#BROADCAST=192.168.2.255
HWADDR=00:80:45:29:1C:D4
IPADDR=192.168.2.55
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
GATEWAY=192.168.2.1
i am running a static ip, but to move to dynamic is easy. just reverse the comments (#) from the line BOOTPROTO=dhcp down to GATEWAY and leave the GATEWAY in there. you will need to adjust those lines to match up with your router or what ever is feeding you an IP.

I have tried all that.

I saw somewhere that I could try to add "acpi=off" in grub, in the back of the kernel-line.

Did that an rebooted the computer.
Now both lan and wlan works! Everything worked just fine.
After a while i turned the computer off, and came back later.
If I boot up now, my touchpad is disableled, but wlan works.

Removing the "acpi=off"-part in grub, gives a working touchpad, but no wlan...

Does anyone know what I can do now?
I want my wlan AND my touchpad to work. (And of course cd/dvd, usb and do on)

If someone help med I shall be greatful to you the rest of my life.

Compiling your own kernel might solve your problems.
