Cannot connect to gnome.org web site for several days
For several days now, I've tried unsuccessfully to connect to http://www.gnome.org (and various subdomains) via different browsers and different OSes. The servers are either "not responding" or "taking too long to respond." Is anyone else having trouble connecting to gnome.org? Have I overlooked something obvious?
Thanks in advance! (And apologies if this is in the wrong place! :^) Dan |

Testing?
Well, First you should check to see if anther computer in your network can get to it. If it can then its something with your computer, If anther computer on your network cant get to it then i would try to trace route it, if that doesn't work find the ip and see if you can get to the ip address.

Thanks for the quick replies.
All computers on this network are having the same results. So, I thought it was my network. I checked firewall rules, anti-virus settings, etc. Even tried rebooting the computers, routers, and broadband modem. Pinging gnome.org and its ip (209.132.176.176) times out. Nobody else in the neighborhood - most are very elderly :( - is on the internet. Friend in another town (same county) also having trouble. Is it possible it's just a temporary problem for my geographical region? I think I've done what I can on this end - pixellany verified the site is up and running. Perhaps a call to my ISP. Again, thanks for the quick responses! Dan |
Called ISP (Comcast) and although they said they're not showing any problems, I'm now able to ping as well as connect to gnome.org. Thanks for your help! :)
