cannot access /dev/video0 from chrooted environment

Hi,
i am trying to access my web camera from inside a chrooted environment. The base system is a Debian Etch AMD64 one and the chrooted is a Debian Etch i386 one. The web camera works fine under the base system and appears as video0 in the base system as well as in the chrooted one. I have to mention, that in the /etc/fstab of the base system i have added the line "/dev /i386/dev none bind 0 0".
However, when i try for example to run camorama, i get a GUI message: "Could not connect to video device (/dev/video0). Please check connection".
What's the problem? Is there a work around?
