Cannot access cdrom drives question

Using slack 10.2 and KDE 3.4.2, when I create a cdrom icon and click on it, I get " only root can access drive "message. How can I make it so users can access drives? Thanks.

Well, on gentoo you have to add them to the cdrom group. I imagine you could give that a try. To verify that is a group, cat   /etc/group

That is a group and its already part of it. I think it has something to do with permissions.
