Can that be an error in space counting?!

I have 4GB partition, where / is. In that moment 3.6GB's from it are used. I decided to free up some space and checked which directories take much space:
Code:
(23:34:04)[root@/home]# du -h --max-depth=0
3.0G .
(23:35:44)[root@/opt]# du -h --max-depth=0
518M .
(23:37:03)[root@/usr]# du -h --max-depth=0
2.3G .
As you see used space total for that 3 directories is about 6GB.. but that's what df-h tells me:
Code:
(23:40:23)[root@/usr]# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda5 4.1G 3.6G 580M 87% /
/dev/hda1 9.7G 9.4G 420M 96% /mnt/winc
So can that be some error while counting the used space, or I'm missing something here?

It looks like you probably have symbolic links in there in a way that part of the usages are calculating the size of the same directories.
