Can not install Red Hat 9

I am having trouble with Red Hat today. I have 3 IBM PC300GL computers with 128meg RAM, 300megahertz PII processor and CD drive. I have had no problem installing Red Hat 9 on two of the computers, but this 3rd is causing me problems.

I do the standard install using a boot disk and 3 burned CDs (the CDs are not the problem since they were tested and installed on other systems) using the standard option it goes through all of the probing and such until it gets to the link:

Code:
running /sbin/loader
I have spent many hours now (all day on and off) search the web for answers and trying different options such as:

Code:
nousb
ide=nodma
nopci
mem=128m
mem=112m
text
lowres
noprobe
I found a bunch of people that had the same problem with 7.x versions of RH in the bug database, however nothing for 9 and they all say resolved.

If anybody could help me with this I would be very grateful.

Also the CD-drive is a Sony model #CDU701-F1 and it seems like it is hanging while reading the CD drive.

Do all three of these IBM computers have identical hardware? If so I'd say make sure the BIOS settings are the same on the machine that is giving you problems as the machines that installed without a problem. If that doesn't work then I'd say you have a hardware issue.

Just a shot in the dark though.

Well they are "kinda" the same. The first one I had the CD drive did not work, and I'm thinking that may be the issue here too. However I now have 2 more from a different company (IBM, just a different reseller) and the one worked fine, and the other doesn't. The one that works does have a sound card though.

I have tried turning everything off in the BIOS and resetting the bios back to factory defaults. Last night I just left it running though and when I came back it had the language screen, but then it came to where it says please put the media CD in and it never finds it. I'm going to pick up a new CD drive today and see if that’s the problem.

Thanks for the help
