Question Can I include sub-folder photos in slideshow?

Hi.

I know there are many programs in GNU/Linux to run a slideshow of pictures i.e. Eye of GNOME. gThumb etc.

What I'd like to know is how to display sub folder images in the slideshow.

Example:
2011Pix has 5 pictures and has a subfolder titled Misc with 3 pictures. If I goto 2011Pix, the slideshow will only display 5 photos instead of all 8. Is there a way around this instead of scrapping sub-folders?

Thanks.

Most of the programs I have tried do not allow you to do a slide show from more than one folder at a time. I do not know it one exists.

I make slide shows that I burn to DVD's so I can display them on the TV. From this I learned a way you could use.

I use a program called Imagination. This program allows you to pick any number of images from any mounted file system. It produces a text file with all the effects you want. You can zoom a pic, add typed comments, control how long a pic shows, and add many effects ( Ken Burn effects ).

Once you add all the slides you want, you save the text file, then run a function called export. This is where you set it up for 4x3 or 9x16 and Pal or NTSC. After export runs, you wind up with a file with a .vob extension. You can play that file on a any linux system with a number of applications. I have used xine, and VLC. I prefer VLC for its simple user interface.

If for any reason you want to show the files on a DVD player, you would have to get a DVD authoring program. There are a lot of them available for linux systems. I use one called DVDStyler. There are several other authoring programs to choose from.

Hope this helps.

It'd be a handy feature if I could go into a directory with many sub folders and select all, then right click and have an option to 'run as a slideshow'. Surely that shouldn't be too difficult to program into a DE?
