I'm pretty sure you have GAIM installed on the system. That's an instant messenger that supports lots of networks (Yahoo, MSN, ICQ, IRC, Jabber, etc..). Pretty good, having everything on the same software..
My favourite is amsn that you can get at sourceforge. It is quite close to msn and works well with people using it. I just use it to get in touch with the poor friends of mine who insensitive to my linus propaganda and my attemps to use talk.

Which means I can contact my fren in MSN and yahoo if I've GAIM installed?
But before you load up GAIM, be sure to donate a few bucks to them for their hard work to create an awesome application that enables you to connect to just about all of the IM protocols known to humans.. it would be a great way to say thanks and continue the software development.
