You should be fine copying text files from windows to linux. I do it between partitions all the time. As far as the floppy drive, you can do a

Code:
mount /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy
from a bash prompt as root and that will mount all the info on the floppy into the /mnt/floppy directory (which must already be created). You can also add this to your /etc/fstab but since I'm not sitting in front of a Linux PC I won't even try to get the syntax right on that...

Hope this helps a little

dont forget to 'umount /mnt/floppy' before removing the disk from the drive!

You can do it without the floppy aswell,
ie
"cp /mnt/windows/file_u_want_in_win /where_u_want_to_put_it_in_linux"
& that's it

It's much easier just to use the following commands and not worry about mounting/unmounting the floppy:

mdir a: (list the contents)
mcopy a:/file1 /linuxdir (copy a file from floppy)
mcopy /linuxdir/file1 a: (copy a file to floppy)
mformat a: (format the floppy)
mdel a:/file1 (delete a file on floppy)
