Can't run talk daemon


I have newly install the rh9 linux , now I run the "talk" function , then it pop up the messages " -------------[ Error on read from talk daemon: Connection refused ]------------- " , can advise what is wrong in my system ? thx.

You need to make sure that talkd or ntalkd is actually running. The RH systems that I've seen don't run it by default. You can turn it on by modifying its configuration file in /etc/xinetd.d (set disable=no) and then restarting xinetd.
